Education is vital to me. It was important to my parents. I firmly believe education will change the world. If we enable all who want an education to get an education, how productive will we be, and why have a war? So, when I talked with Jim Schramm 17 years ago, I told him how important I thought it was for all to have the same opportunities for a good education.
1. Management is the control of work or processes. A great manager determines what needs to be done and directs the employees on how and when to do it. A skillful manager puts procedures in place to drive the process, then measures the outcomes. Once outcomes are measured, the manager adjusts the process, if necessary, to improve the job functions.
2. Leadership motivates, coaches, and develops people to complete the processes or work efficiently. It involves the ability to create or improve job satisfaction. You can be a manager without being a leader.
I enjoy seeing many different countries and continents. The place I find the most interesting is Africa. It is truly like the wild west must have been years ago. With so much of the wildlife and land preserved by the conservancies on the continent, we can experience so much of the wildlife.
I can’t support peer groups enough when running a business. Running a business is fun, but so challenging. There have been times when I felt as though I couldn’t breathe because of some urgent business problems But when I joined two different peer groups the business challenges became easier.
Women are becoming enabled to be board members to benefit corporations. We identify ways to improve women\’s abilities to become great board members.
Most people enjoy learning something new. It gives them a sense of purpose or understanding. When you delegate, you help another person learn a new task. However, many people delegate incorrectly, creating problems, distrust, anger, and frustration.
Make your business great. Join your Industry association. Your participation in the association can benefit your industry and your business.
